Growing Together: The Story Behind Third Orbit Flora

People often ask how we got started, and the truth is, it wasn’t one single moment. It was green beans off the vine, dirt under the nails, and a shared look between friends that said, “We could grow something here.”

Our Roots Go Deep

The green thumb feels practically genetic for both of us.

Angel grew up in a family where vibrant thriving plants were traded like heirloom recipes, and they are still swapping cuttings across kitchen tables. Kayla’s childhood was dotted by vegetable beds and gorgeous jungle-lush houseplants.

That love of the living world is now part of our parenting too. We hand our kids peas straight off the vine, help them learn to care for seedlings, and show them that growing things is an everyday way to give back to the earth and our community.

From Potting Soil to Product Ideas

Our best business meetings are with soil under our nails, ideas swirling, and coffee on brew. One minute we’re tucking roots into fresh soil; the next, we’re sketching prototypes on the back of a seed packet. Between parenting, potting, and working, we’ve learned to move slowly and deliberately, trusting that ideas, like plants, thrive with steady care.

There’s a rhythm in the creative chaos: plan, plant, prune, repeat. The messier our hands, the clearer the vision seems to get.

Starting Small, On Purpose

We don’t mass-produce magic. Right now you’ll find just what’s rooted and ready: houseplants we’ve nurtured from cuttings and a handful of steel-wire trellises bent by hand between watering sessions. Each item leaves our workspace only when it feels right, carrying a little curiosity in every node or twist.

Keeping the collection small lets us focus on quality, sustainability, and transparent practices. These are values that won’t shift even as we grow.

What We’re Growing Toward

Curiosity is the richest compost we know. Third Orbit Flora isn’t just a storefront. It’s also a place to wonder out loud. Our blog digs into everything from everyday plant-care tips to the “wait, really?” corners of plant science. Expect musings, science, and the occasional DIY rabbit hole, all written with the same respect we give the plants themselves.

Our hope is that visitors leave feeling closer to the natural world, not only as consumers but as curious co-creators.

A Closing Note

For us, this is more than a business. It’s a relationship with plants, with each other, and with the planet. Every order plants a tree and helps keep this dream in orbit. Whether you’re here to shop, learn, or simply soak up some green inspiration, thank you for being part of the journey.
